In our editing session today, we watched our opening sequence numerous times to look for any continuity issues and if our sound worked well which was all successful before adding all our credits. We used a betty noir font for the main title of the film, which we chose to be 'The Hit', which had an eerie look to it which is shown at the end of the opening sequence. We changed the placement of our credits in our shots to complement our footage and changed the duration of how long each credit was show on the screen to work with our shots. We then altered any minor issues in our opening sequence to perfect our work and then as a production group decided we were all happy with our final outcome.
We did not make any new decisions later that changed our original concept and I believe this was because we had thought it through very carefully to have a simple yet effective opening sequence. We created tension and suspense in our thriller by using lots of cuts to create a fast pace that would capture all the action involved. We used a lot of our footage to show the weapons and Adam’s struggle in the shipping container to also make our audience empathise with our victim. I am happy with the overall look, and I believe the green creates an aesthetic picture. The contrapuntal diegetic sound used that we edited in of the jazz music creates a very sinister effect and this was something we came up with as a production group to emphasise the suspense in our opening sequence. I believe that our opening sequence makes our audience want to know more due to our concept and also how we edited our opening sequence. The fast-paced action combined with shots showing the facial expression in more detail makes the audience intrigued as they can only gather certain information from this opening sequence which was our intention to leave them on a sort of cliff-hanger. The majority of the titles we used were truthful ie Raff being the director and Sophie being the editor however we did come up with random names to fill the rest of the credits as well as our production group name and studio name which were ‘Crystal House’ and ‘Silverlight’. Our production group is really happy with our opening sequence and believes it creates tension and suspense which was our intention. I personally wouldn’t have done anything differently in the editing process as we used our time very efficiently for example doing tasks outside of lesson time such as finding music to be played on the radio and coming up with a title name. We worked hard to pay attention to detail, especially with the continuity of the sequence as it has a sub-genre of action so this was crucial.
